There's a lot of theories out there about Osiris and the Egyptian gods and goddesses. Zeus also existed in the Egyptian religion under a different name. Horus became Appollo for the Greeks.
As someone who honors the Kemetic Netjer, I'd like to respectfully disagree with you:
"The ancient Egyptians associated Osiris with the super conscious mind."
No, they didn't.
I have heard that also that Osiris was the Lord Of The Underworld. I should read the Egyptian Book Of The Dead. Osiris is also associated with the constellation of Orion in some way.
I heard some of what I said in the following books about the Egyptian initiation process. These authors claim to have been able to remember their past life experiences in Egypt going back many thousands of years. I believe these accounts and to me this information is as reliable as eye witness testimony. Not that every book that claims to contain this type of information is true.
The idea of reincarnation was part of the Egyptian religion. I guess you don't like that idea too well but I think you are wrong about this.
Not everyone agrees with what the orthodox Egyptologists say about the pyramids and many other things. There has been no forward thinking in traditional Egyptology for about 200 years. They write thesis and get PhDs explaining their theories about how the pyramids were built by slaves using manual labor, something which would have been totally impossible.
New age researchers have finally been able to struggle past those hypocrites and figure out what the Great Pyramid really is for example. It was a machine. A sort of power plant.
There's a great episode of the TV show 'Ancient Aliens' called 'The Evidence' where Christopher Dunn explains how the pyramid machine worked. The pyramid produced a beam of microwave energy that was shot into space. Dunn's book 'The Giza Power Plant' is probably the greatest new age book ever written. He has a new book out but I haven't read it yet.
This is very interesting because Edgar Cayce stated that this is how the Atlanteans powered their flying machines and sub marines. The crystal in the temple on Atlantis produced energy that was directed at these devices.
This is an Atlantean technology. The pyramids, obelisks, and temples were all connected in some sort of energy grid. The massive granite blocks inside the pyramid contain countless quartz crystals. These had a role in the energy transformation process. Dunn's theory also includes 27 pairs of emerald resonators which lined the grand gallery inside the Great Pyramid. These have long since been removed, probably by the priests to prevent another Atlantean type holocaust.
It was according to Cayce the misuse of these awesome forces of nature that lead to the destruction of the continent of Atlantis in a few short hours.
There are theories also that the Ark Of The Covenant of biblical fame was an Atlantean device that was brought to the earth from outer space. Moses may have taken this strange device against the evil pharaoh's wishes. This is a possible explanation for why the pharaoh dared to pursue Moses and the Hebrews after first agreeing to let them leave Egypt.
All of these ideas show how there are deep and mystical relationships between mythology, Christianity, and the bible. The ancient priesthood in very ancient Egypt was called 'the order of Melchizedek'. This was a Christian priesthood and Abraham and Moses were members of it.
The Giza Power Plant : Technologies of Ancient Egypt [Paperback]
Initiation in the Great Pyramid (Astara's Library of Mystical Classics) [Paperback]
The Great Pyramid is a power plant? Huh? The Pyramid was built for Pharaoh Khufu as his resting place; it mimicked the ben-ben stone, the first thing to be created when Life was created and underlined Pharaoh's connection to Netjer as Sa-Re (Son of Re).
As far as I know, Kemetic beliefs didn't believe in reincarnation back then, but there's a lot of modern people with Kemetic beliefs or Kemetic tinged beliefs who DO believe in reincarnation. In ancient times, if I'm not mistaken, the human soul was made up of your ba, ka, ren, sheut, and ib. The ib's your heart, the sheut's the shadow of a person, the ren was your name given to you at birth, the ba was your "soul"/personality that took the form of a bird after death, and your ka was your spiritual essence. Anyone who claims to be a priest from Ancient Egypt should know that, as that's part of the reason for mummification (your ba needs to be reunited with your body every night in order to survive).
It's not fair to tarnish all "orthodox Egyptologists" and claim that "there has been no forward thinking in traditional Egyptology for about 200 years just as it's not fair to claim that all New Agers wouldn't know real history if it bit them or that they're quacks.
I have many, many, MANY issues with Zawi Hawass, but there is no legitimate scholar of Egyptology who seriously believes that the Great Pyramids were built by slave labor. They found the worker's towns around Giza if memory serves me correct. Also, what about KV 62? Genetic testing on the mummies, especially trying to piece together Tutankhamun's family tree? Sure, Hawass is going to pigeon-hole it onto his favorite pet theory, but it's still helpful information and gives us an idea of who was related to whom, the diet, and health of the ruling dynasties.
Both sides have their place.
But anyway, back to precognitive dreams:
Continuing on the ancient Egypt kick, dream interpretation was very important to them. In Roman times, Anpu (Anubis), who knows the pathways of this world and the Unseen, was called upon to bring precognitive dreams, especially if you were trying to find love/make someone fall in love with you.
As a Pagan who has a lot of Kemetic influences, I often ask Anpu and Wepwawet (another Jackel Diety who was Opener of the Ways) for help with dream interpretation, especially if it's precognative and I want advice on what it means or how I should interpret it.
And yes, I have had some precognative dreams. Some are pretty significant, others are ridiculously mundane: my friend and I chatting on AIM (this happens a lot, the Gods have a sense of humor), the coffee place got a new soda machine, buying a new shirt, etc.
I'm really fascinated by dreams, dream interpretation, etc. It's such a great subject with lots of different theories so that you never get bored.
